RSAB Harapan Kita: Fetomaternal Service Provider of the Year in Indonesia

RSAB Harapan Kita Won the Fetomaternal Service Provider of the Year in Indonesia Award

Fetomaternal is a subspecialty in obstetrics and gynecology that focuses on the detection and diagnosis of abnormalities in both the fetus (fetal) and the mother (maternal).

Fetomaternal examinations use advanced ultrasound (USG) technology to: monitor fetal development with detailed ultrasound scans, early detection of congenital abnormalities, examination of genetic disorders, management of medical conditions, manage chronic disease during pregnancy and preconception consultation, issue in fetal organ formation, possibility of preterm birth, and risk of miscarriage.

The goal of fetomaternal services at RSAB Harapan Kita is to ensure a positive outcome by preparing pregnant mother and the fetus to be in an optimal condition.

Fetomaternal ultrasound differs from regular ultrasound. It is performed exclusively by a fetomaternal subspecialist with examination is more thorough and précised, often taking longer than a regular ultrasound. In certain conditions, the Fetomaternal staff might use fetal MRI in order to help manage the fetal pathology.

As an effort to help detect fetal abnormalities early and ensure the fetus remains in optimal condition until birth, the fetomaternal team plays a crucial role. Especially in high-risk pregnancies and abnormality detected, the team performs invasive procedures and fetal interventions as a diagnostic and therapeutic approach
